India test-fires its Nirbhay cruise missile, for the first time with an Indian propulsion system, the Manik turbofan engine, replacing the earlier Russian engine.
Nirbhay cruise missile is India's first indigenously-produced cruise missile, similar in appearance to the U.S. Tomahawk and the Russian Kalibr SS-N-27.
It is a subsonic cruise missile with a range of 800-1,000 km, carrying a 450 kg payload and equipped with a land-based mobile launcher.
